This is my first ever journal log for my thesis film. Progress had a bit of a stalemate when I unforunately got very sick but I'm still going along. I believe my next point of progres is just going to be organizing my files and finishing up the look for scene 1.

Cinematographer Study-Tristen Oliver

The true beauty to Oliver’s work, to me, is how much detail and maximalism is put into one shot. The cluster of objects in pretty much only greenish orange tones makes the overall aesthetics of his shots warming and toonish with a sense of sickly and unnerving emotion. This is captured in the beginning of the short film he provided cinematography for, Save Ralph. His style is nostalgic and warps serious topics into a childish lense with the rich colors and set ups we’d associate with children’s media. Tristan Oliver makes new content that we somehow already find familiar.
